This piece entitled “It Gets Heavier” is intended to talk about the burdens of doing work and labor of any kind, and how that can weigh us down. The steps of the ladder are kiln sculpted glass, designed to mimic real wood. the steps are getting progressively more and more distorted with the hypothetical “weight” of the work. There are also slumped glass paint puddles of paint spilled across the piece. I also have some cast glass paint pails and brushes that were made using a honeycomb mold.

This piece won an award for “Best in Glass” in 2021 from the College of Fine Arts at Ball State University for their 86th Annual Student art show
